Facing the Heat and looking for THE DRESS

Hot.

Really really hot.

I headed down to Dallas for a few days to shop for my daughter's wedding. I needed to check out some pretty lanterns my daughter saw in an IKEA catalog for part of her wedding decorations plus I needed to find a dress to wear for the big day.

I checked the weather and groaned.

If you believe in Hell and want to experience it.... I suggest Dallas in the summer.

It's not only the heat (103 and 104 the days I was there)....but the angle of the sun....and the sensation of having every watery atom in your body sucked out by a searing wind.

You can also end up wearing a neck brace after a few days......literally your head gets snapped back each time you emerge from frigid malls and cold cars into the heat and wind.

Despite the risk......I drove around town.....checking out this store or that....trying on a few dresses her and a few dresses there....till viola....I put one on and said....."This is it."

I bought it and headed for the famous Galleria shopping center where I visited a couple more stores to be sure there wasn't anything else that caught my eye.

My husband who came along on the trip despite knowing I was shopping for a dress seemed stunned when I told him I had purchased something.

I guess he was prepared for endless stops and long hours....to find a dress in a couple of hours seemed......shocking. It left time in our trip for other things.....a movie.....the Dallas Art Museum....we even had enough time to browse some antique stores.

So why am I not celebrating tonight?

Well.... I haven't been able to take the dress out of it's cloak of plastic.

I'm worried.....maybe I was dehydrated and delusional when I bought it.....maybe it doesn't look as good as I thought it did when I tried it on.......Is the cleavage too low? Did I realize it was cut so low in the back? Maybe it won't look the same out of its Texas aura.

I know this sounds silly but I can't seem to go over and check on the dress. I

Tomorrow...tomorrow......I will unseal the bag and put it on ....and keep my fingers and toes crossed that I indeed found THE DRESS.

This is NOT my bed........

The city ..Dallas...does not appear on my itinerary......and yet here
I am .....a long way from home because of fog.....

Cheerfully .....they tell me I MIGHT get out tomorrow.....and maybe someday I'll see my luggage again.

All I have with me is my iPhone and my laptop ... I wonder
if there's an app for a toothbrush.
